MAP

This 125,000-square-foot building supports the delivery of innovative medical education to an expanded student body. It gathers teaching facilities previously spread over the campus into one building, forming a medicine precinct that connects to the surrounding university buildings.

The program is distributed around a central atrium with public gathering spaces, adjacent information commons, and student union spaces. The teaching spaces provide the ability to gather each year as two separate groups simultaneously as well as adequate breakout space for focused teaching to take place for 30 groups.

A simulation centre provides a series of labs for creating problem based learning scenarios in clinical, surgical, ER and hospital room situations using manikins, standardized patients and patient volunteers. Wet lab teaching and support facilities for medical education and for general undergraduate science programs are also housed in the building.
