Sifton Properties, a real estate developer in southwestern Ontario, envisioned a new kind of community – mixed-use, sustainable, with 450,000 square feet of commercial space, a central park, and a mixture of 2,000 households comprised of apartments, townhouses, retirement residences and high-rise, to be located on the perimeter of London, Ontario.
The inaugural building for the West Five community is the client’s head office. The 60,000 square-foot building houses Sifton Properties’ offices on the top third floor while the first and second floors have leased retail and commercial spaces. The client wanted this building to represent the values of the design intent of the West Five Community, enhance the brand and be leading edge in both technology and sustainable design solutions. It is the first net zero building in London, Ontario.
