With a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo’s School of Urban and Regional Planning, Robert directs programming and feasibility studies, urban design, campus planning and development projects. Joining Diamond Schmitt Architects in 1997, Robert became a Principal of the firm in 2002. His work is focused on institutional, research, municipal and private sector clients.
At present Robert is the Diamond Schmitt project lead for a master plan and urban design study in Hamilton’s Barton/Tiffany neighbourhood. He is also Project Principal for the redevelopment of airport lands in St. Vincent and the Grenadines that will see the implementation of phased civic infrastructure growth including schools, hospitals and residential accommodation on 26-hectares of land over the next 20 years.
Recent work includes leading a consultant consortium developing a 35-hectare site for the Vineland Research Institute. The master planned campus will provide laboratories, a business convergence centre and incubator space for innovative horticultural research and product development in Ontario’s Niagara Region. Campus master plans for McMaster University’s Innovation Park, McGill University and a new campus in Orillia for Lakehead University are included in his portfolio.
Robert manages the business development and marketing group for Diamond Schmitt Architects.
