La Maison Symphonique opened with fanfare on September 7th, 2011. Montreal finally has a performance space worthy of its renowned Montreal Symphony Orchestra and L’Orchestre Métropolitain. Featuring an all-wood interior, excellent sightlines and acoustics, the 2100-seat auditorium brings a new level of intimacy to live music performance. La Maison is a beacon in the bustling Quartier des Spectacles – the Entertainment District of downtown Montreal and completes the complement of theatres and galleries on Places des Arts.
In this video, lead architect Jack Diamond, project architect Michel Languedoc and Montreal Symphony Orchestra Music Director Kent Nagano present the design features and discuss the significance of this new hall for the cultural scene in Montreal.Read More About this project
