Administrative Assistant

General clerical and administrative support including:

  • Managing, coordinating and tracking appointments, meetings and conference calls
  • Collection and processing of Principal expenses
  • Writing/typing/formatting of letters, spreadsheets, memo’s, minutes, etc.
  • Taking meeting minutes and other various project or committee related work
  • Managing Principals’ email messages (including filing of emails)
  • Tracking consultants’ Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) status and issuing deadline reminders when necessary
  • Various faxing, copying, emailing, courier, database maintenance, etc.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Skills, experience and qualifications:

  • Individual must have an ability to communicate effectively and must be strong at taking initiative to accomplish tasks
  • Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance and must demonstrate initiative, be hands-on.
  • Ensure that each Principals needs are being met on a regular basis
  • Handle highly sensitive and confidential matters relating to the daily activity of the department
  • Work independently and in cooperation with colleagues from all areas of the firm to ensure the best possible service is provided
  • Able to communicate effectively with senior executives
  • Ability to work on last minute projects if the need arises
  • Perform additional functions as directed or assumed on personal initiative
  • 3+ years’ experience in an Administrative Assistant role
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products and Mac (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Entourage)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workflow to ensure all deadlines are met, and work under pressure in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Maintain a positive, “can-do” attitude and a willingness to help
  • Superior planning, organization, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Familiarity with the Architecture industry would be an asset

Architect (Healthcare Specialist)

We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals with rich experience in healthcare design. The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of well-rounded architectural experience with a demonstrated passion for excellence in healthcare design.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a busy office are key attributes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of outstanding healthcare designs
  • Ability to meet with clients and user groups to facilitate the design process
  • Ability to work independently and provide mentorship to junior staff.
  • Coordination of internal team, consultants and specification writer during design and documentation
  • Preparation of drawings in a REVIT environment


Qualifications 

  • More than eight years of experience in an environment of design excellence
  • Masters level degree in Architecture
  • Evidence of continuing education in the field of healthcare design
  • EDAC (Evidence Based Design Accreditation) Sigma Six or LEAN training is an advantage
  • Experience with dRofus or similar data management programs is an advantage
  • Experience in a P3 environment is an advantage
  • Eligibility for Membership in the OAA
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced knowledge of current versions of REVIT and AutoCAD
  • Contract Administration experience is considered an asset

BIM Specialist

Diamond Schmitt Architects is looking to recruit an experienced professional who is looking for a career path in the application of BIM technology. Our commitment is to use BIM resources to support our recognized excellence in design and client relationships. We are looking for talented and dedicated people to support our project teams and our BIM manager. The BIM Specialist will develop best practices in BIM software, will report to the BIM Manager and sit on the office’s BIM Committee. The ideal candidate should have a passion for technology, a strong computer background as well as knowledge of the use of the BIM process in the AEC industry.


BIM Support Tasks:

  • Under the firm’s BIM Manager supervision, execute BIM action items defined by the BIM Committee to achieve consistent results
  • Provide office wide BIM desktop support
  • Assist teams with daily model management administration and maintenance
  • Provide teams with project start up information
  • Content creation: Produce BIM content for the office library
  • Produce project specific families in compliance with office BIM standards
  • QA/QC components from manufacturers that are required by projects teams
  • Provide in-person training, developing and shadowing to staff
  • Disseminate information about office standard content and templates
  • Maintain and update office BIM standards and the office BIM guidelines on the intranet
  • Stay informed regarding best practices for the use of Revit and BIM process


IT Tasks:

  • Perform hardware / software testing to ensure best Revit performance results
  • Perform annual software and project upgrades
  • Help IT with assembling deployment packages
  • Direct project teams to IT support when outside of BIM scope


Mandatory Experience:

  • 3+ years experience in the documentation of institutional architectural projects
  • In depth working knowledge of current BIM applications, with emphasis on Revit
  • Proven efficiency and ability to meet challenging time schedules
  • Proven efficiency and effectiveness in a team environment
  • Proven interest in the development of BIM solutions within a broad context
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Navisworks, Dynamo, Revizto, dRofus, Rhino, Grasshopper is an asset

Contract Administrator

We are seeking a Contract Administrator who will contribute their outstanding skills to the planning, design and furnishing of a wide variety of projects. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of architecture and a passion for design innovation and excellence. They will work closely with principals, associates and architects in a collaborative studio environment to contribute design ideas and provide direction to project teams.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide construction administration functions to projects, including both office functions (certificates of payments, preparation of CO’s PC’s, CD’s etc.) and field functions (attendance at site meetings, preparation of site instructions, field review reports, etc.)
  • Organize, direct and manage contract administration for projects
  • Implement the project as directed by, or in consultation with the project team
  • Supervise the work effort on assigned projects
  • Work in a collaborative team environment, primarily in construction administration with involvement as required in other aspects of design including pre tender document review
  • Report to the project architect on a regular basis outlining status of job cost control and scheduling issues including general progress and time management issues
  • Knowledge of Revit and Autocad an asset
  • 10+ years experience required

Intermediate Architect

We are seeking energetic and enthusiastic design focused individuals with a minimum of 5 years architectural experience to join our team.  The ideal candidates will have well-rounded architectural experience and a demonstrated passion for excellence in design.  They should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, very good organizational skills, and be able to multi-task in a busy office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Architectural design, detailing and documentation on projects in collaboration with the project architects and team members
  • Developing and coordinating construction documentation on projects
  • Preparation of 2D, 3D and CAD drawings
  • Working experience with Revit is an asset


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated pursuit of excellence in design
  • Bachelor of Architecture Degree
  • Revit trained and work experience an asset
  • Must also have working knowledge of current versions of AutoCAD.  Experience in modeling software such as Rhino, Sketchup, 3D Max and CS Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) would be considered an asset
  • Experience preparing design and construction documents for institutional and residential projects.  Contract Administration experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
