Recognized with a 2026 AIANY Design Award – Honor Award, David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center is celebrated for reimagining the concert-going experience—creating a closer connection between audience and performer while opening the institution to the city as a more welcoming, civic-oriented space.

As part of the AIANY Interiors Winners Presentations, Diamond Schmitt and Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects + Partners will present the award-winning project. The team will answer questions and discuss how the design addressed longstanding acoustical deficiencies while reinvigorating the public spaces within the Hall’s existing historic envelope.

Sybil Wa, Principal at Diamond Schmitt, will share insights into the hall’s transformation from a cavernous rectilinear shoebox into a cohesive, curvilinear space with world-class acoustics and optimized sightlines—enhancing both performance intimacy and public accessibility.
