Marpole Community Centre is the first community and recreation facility to be built by the City of Vancouver in more than a decade, and it is setting a new benchmark for inclusion, innovation, and performance.

At the Passive House Canada Conference, Caroline Inglis, Architect at Diamond Schmitt will present “Marpole: Building Vancouver’s Next-Generation Community Centre” alongside Neil Norris, Building Science Specialist at RDH Building Science; Sherman Wai, Associate at RDH Building Science; and Scott Ghomeshi, Principal at Introba.

Together, they will share the challenges of designing and constructing a facility that balances extensive community requirements with ambitious sustainability targets. As the project nears completion, the team will reflect on lessons learned during construction and how they maintained a commitment to Passive House standards when site-specific issues arose.

Taking place in Vancouver, this year’s Passive House Canada Conference marks the 8th annual gathering of industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators. With Passive House projects developing rapidly in British Columbia, the conference is poised to amplify that growth, offering a platform to explore how resiliency aligns with the Passive House standard.
