Nigel Tai graduated from the University of Hong Kong and University of Toronto. He joined Diamond Schmitt Architects in 2008, became an Associate in 2015 and Senior Associate in 2017. He has worked on a number of the firm’s complex institutional projects. The fast-tracked 110,000-square-foot Environmental Science and Chemistry Building, which provides innovative design solutions for sustainable and highly flexible research and study space, opened in 2016, two years after design concept approval.
He is currently the Project Architect for the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Transit City condominium project and a team architect for the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC) masterplan development. Mr. Tai is the Project Architect for the Trafalgar Park Revitalization project in Oakville, Ontario to open in 2018. The project will convert the heritage Oakville Arena to a multi-use facility including a NHL-size ice pad, a Seniors Centre, public meeting spaces, and a full-size gymnasium. The project also includes the construction of a new fire station.
Mr. Tai Nigel engages in public speaking to promote sustainable design ideas. He was named in 2018 to the inaugural Burlington Urban Design Advisory Panel.
