The rejuvenation of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa transforms this performing arts complex from a Brutalist fortress for the arts into a transparent and engaging centre that connects with the city. While celebrating the original Brutalist design and, indeed, extending its geometry in a new material palette of wood, glass and bronze, the space created by enclosing former terraces activates the centre in new ways. It is now an 18-hour-a-day public space revealing exceptional views of Parliament Hill and other city landmarks.

This 3-minute video showcases the versatility and sense of engagement the NAC now offers to artists, patrons, and passersby.
