Toronto, ON – Diamond Schmitt is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Prime as the firm’s new Director of Sustainability. Lisa brings over 30 years of experience in community planning, progressive green building design, and developing performance-based solutions at an urban scale, including master plans for Toronto’s waterfront, the City of Markham, and Halton Hills; and has developed sustainable strategies and climate policies for municipalities across the Greater Toronto Area and Winnipeg Region. Lisa will guide Diamond Schmitt’s sustainability approach, driving strategy, education, and analysis of benefit on projects across all sectors.
Ms. Prime joins Diamond Schmitt from the City of Cambridge where she served as Chief Planner from 2021-2024 leading significant growth expectations through intensification plans for the City. She previously held the role of Director of Environment, Innovation & Sustainability for Waterfront Toronto for 10 years where she worked on the Climate Positive Plan for Villiers Island in the Port Lands–the city’s first climate positive precinct. With a career focused on transformative development projects and climate planning, she has also held roles on various boards advancing innovation and standards.
Lisa is the recipient of multiple international project awards, with recognition including the Urban Land Institute's (ULI) inaugural Women's Leadership Initiative Championship Team (2014) and Clean50 Honourable Mention (2012).
