For the 11th consecutive year, Diamond Schmitt has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers! This year’s winners were recognized for their commitment to investing in their people and reinforcing their leadership amid evolving economic and technological environments.
“Employers in Canada are at a remarkable juncture, facing once-in-a-generation challenges in artificial intelligence, trade and demographics,” says Richard Yerema, Executive Editor of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project which is managed by Mediacorp. “While the potential downsides are widely reported, experienced leaders recognize that periods of disruption are often catalysts for long-term advantage.”
Mediacorp editors evaluated employers using eight long-standing criteria: Workplace; Work Atmosphere & Social; Health, Financial & Family Benefits; Vacation & Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.
“Leading employers are carefully listening to their workforce and ensuring strong support remains in place. Over the past year, we’ve seen a greater emphasis on financial security to help employees feel more confident, even amid economic uncertainty. But importantly, there has been no broad pullback in benefits or working conditions among the best employers,” says Kristina Leung, Managing Editor of the project
At Diamond Schmitt, employee support remains a top priority. Some of the reasons we continue to be named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers include:
- Encouraging employees to be recruiters for the firm with new employee referral bonuses (up to $2,000) and reaching out to the next generation through summer employment, paid internships and apprenticeship programs.
- Helping employees look to the future with retirement planning assistance services, along with matching RSP contributions and an annual year-end bonus program to help employees share in the firm's successes along the way.
- Taking a thoughtful approach when helping employees manage unexpected challenges, offering compassionate leave top-up for those called upon to care for a loved one (to 80 per cent of salary for up to 17 weeks)
Now in its 26th year, Canada’s Top 100 Employers is an editorial competition recognizing organizations with exceptional human-resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.
