Every year, The Architect’s Newspaper celebrates companies, contractors, and consultants that are moving the AEC industry forward. The Best of Practice Awards recognize firms and businesses that not only deliver design excellence through their work, but are also design a successful work culture within their office and advancing social and sustainable goals.
This year, Diamond Schmitt has been named winner of the 2025 Architect’s Newspaper Best of Practice Award in the Architect (XL Firm) – Canada category!
Companies were examined through three criteria: design, culture, and social impact. Design considers the company’s work product and evaluates the level of quality present in completed projects. Culture considers the internal experience and operations that can best support their employees and create an office culture that prizes advancement, achievement, and diversity. Finally, social impact looks at how a firm engages with its community to envision and enact a better world.
On Diamond Schmitt being named a winner: “The efforts here in terms of sustainability and energy saving are noteworthy and deserving of an award,” says jury member Enrica Oliva, Adjunct Associate Professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture.
