Toronto, ON – The groundbreaking of Park Road marks the official start of construction on the 28-storey flatiron building.
Located in Toronto’s exclusive Yorkville neighbourhood, Park Road is a contemporary interpretation of a flatiron building with protected views overlooking the picturesque Rosedale Valley ravine system and the city. Less than 100 metres from the Bloor-Yonge TTC subway station, Park Road is perfectly positioned close to transit while delivering pedestrian and bicycle-friendly infrastructure.
Inspired by modernist sculptural abstraction, the flatiron architecture directly responds to its location at the nexus of three streets. The tower is defined by a curved south façade and a series of stepped cantilevers on the building’s western façade that appear to defy gravity, hovering above the corner of Collier and Church Streets. Clad in a palette of warm, golden bronze metal, Park Road has a unique sculptural presence along Toronto’s skyline.
"Park Road’s site conditions offered an opportunity to create a new kind of residential experience,” says Don Schmitt, Principal, Diamond Schmitt. “The sculptural tower marks a crossroads for urban living, creating pedestrian connections, access to nature, to the city, Toronto’s premier transit hub, and a new public realm.”
