The expansion of the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex is now open, strengthening Oakville's commitment to building healthy, connected, and active communities. With new spaces to play, learn, and gather, the complex brings residents together and enriches community life for generations to come.
Designed for all ages and interests, the integrated building features an aquatics centre, fitness facilities, a gymnasium, flexible program rooms, and a new Oakville Public Library branch with dedicated spaces for children's programming, making, and media. The addition replaces a previously blank edge with a transparent public façade that brings activity, visibility, and a stronger sense of welcome to the street. New landscape interventions create a green forecourt, improve links to the surrounding trail network, and extend the building’s civic presence outdoors through a plaza adjoining the library.
Built with the future in mind, the facility integrates sustainability strategies—including a geothermal system, photovoltaic readiness, and heat recovery—supporting long-term operational performance alongside an inclusive and highly functional community experience.
