Diamond Schmitt Architects’ design for SmartCentres Place, a mixed-use development at the heart of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre north of Toronto, will add 1,600 rental and condominium apartments in three towers. They will be part of Transit City, which currently has three condominium buildings under construction.

SmartCentres Place is located at the terminus of the Spadina subway line and is a new integrated urban development with transit, residential, commercial and community services. The PwC-YMCA Tower (shown) combines Class-A office space, a 100,000-square-foot YMCA, a 20,000-square-foot public library, 10,000-square-foot community space and 3000 square feet of retail.
