David Geffen Hall has been shortlisted as a Regional Finalist for the 2024 Civic Trust Awards, following a rigorous first stage assessment of over 300 projects.
The re-imagined David Geffen Hall offers new, welcoming public amenities and a state-of-the art music hall to improve the entire concert-going experience. What was once a building with bland, tangled common spaces and an acoustically challenged hall, is now a living instrument. With flexible spaces for performance, a material palette imbued with warmth and color, an entirely reconstructed hall emphasizing audience connection and resonant acoustics, the building brings a new energy to Lincoln Center’s Campus – all while respecting its iconic exterior.
The Regional Finalists will now be reviewed by the National Judging Panel to determine the final list of National and International Civic Trust Award winners, to be announced in March 2024.
The Civic Trust Awards were established in 1959 to recognize outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment. The aim of the Civic Trust Awards is to encourage the very best in architecture and environmental design, to improve the built environment for us all through design, sustainability, inclusiveness, and accessibility, but also to reward projects that offer a positive cultural, social, economic, or environmental benefit to their local communities.
