Diamond Schmitt celebrates 10 years of being named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. Organized by Mediacorp Canada Inc., 2025 marks the annual competition’s 25-year milestone and reflects on how after all these years, the program continues to influence employers across the country.

“Twenty-five years ago, it wasn’t easy for readers to find information on best practices in the workplace,” says Richard Yerema, executive editor. “The idea behind the competition was to create more transparency about what employers offered in terms of their benefits and culture, so we could start a conversation about work and workplaces.”

As technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and employee expectations continue to shift, companies must adapt their human resources practices and establish forward-thinking workplace policies to stay competitive and remain relevant.

“The best employers recognize that traditional benefits […] need to reflect the nation as it is today, not how it might have been when these programs were created,” Managing Editor Kristina Leung mentions.

In fact, two of the reasons why Diamond Schmitt was selected as one Canada's Top 100 Employers (2025) are:

“[…] The thoughtful approach Diamond Schmitt takes when helping employees manage unexpected challenges, offering compassionate leave top-up for those called upon to care for a loved one (to 80 per cent of salary for up to 17 weeks)”

And

“[…] Helping employees save for the future with matching RSP contributions and provides retirement planning assistance to encourage employees to think long term”

This year's competition also highlights the importance of continuous learning and internal career mobility. By fostering a culture of growth and development, organizations can attract and retain top talent, which brings us to the third reason why Diamond Schmitt Architects is part of the list of the country’s top employers:

“Diamond Schmitt Architects offers learning and development opportunities for individuals at various stages of their careers, including paid internships for recent grads, tuition subsidies (from 25 to 100 per cent of costs), and the in-house Diamond Schmitt University along with a corresponding virtual learning management system.”
