The New Vic at McGill University, designed by Diamond Schmitt/LemayMichaud, has been honoured with three GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards.
Last night at the gala evening, held at the Plaza Centre-Ville in Montreal, The New Vic was awarded a Platinum Laureate in the Architecture category, for Concept & Unbuilt projects.
A Gold Certification in the Concept & Unbuilt Category, and a Silver Certification in the Building Conversion & Adaptive Reuse Category were awarded prior to the gala.
Transforming the former historic Royal Victoria Hospital in Montréal into the new home of Sustainability Systems and Public Policy at McGill University, the design of the New Vic has been recognized for its approach to heritage revitalization and new construction. The New Vic combines the rejuvenation of iconic heritage buildings and landscapes with advanced research, environmental design, and an open and inclusive architecture—adapting the former hospital focused on healing the body, into a new campus that is focused on healing the planet.
The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards is an international competition that celebrates the excellence and the talent of creative professionals and firms who have distinguished themselves through exemplary practice.
