The New Vic at McGill University, designed by Diamond Schmitt/LemayMichaud, has been honoured with two GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards: a Gold Certification in the Concept & Unbuilt Category, and a Silver Certification in the Building Conversion & Adaptive Reuse Category.

Transforming the former historic Royal Victoria Hospital in Montréal into the new home of Sustainability Systems and Public Policy at McGill University, the design of the New Vic has been recognized for its approach to heritage revitalization and new construction. The New Vic combines the rejuvenation of iconic heritage buildings and landscapes with advanced research, environmental design, and an open and inclusive architecture—adapting the former hospital focused on healing the body, into a new campus that is focused on healing the planet.

The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards is an international competition that celebrates the excellence and the talent of creative professionals and firms who have distinguished themselves through exemplary practice.

Winners of the 2024 GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN Awards will be honoured at a gala in November.
