Ana Maria Llanos leads the Vancouver studio of Diamond Schmitt and has over 25 years of experience with the firm. Her work is focused on Western Canada and spans healthcare, academic, civic, cultural, residential, commercial, and restoration projects, with a particular strength in the delivery of complex institutional work.

Her commitment to design excellence is supported by rigorous project management, technical coordination, and an ability to guide multidisciplinary teams through complex programs. Ana Maria has worked across a range of delivery models, including Integrated Project Delivery, Stipulated Sum, Construction Management, and P3, bringing a practical understanding of how design decisions, procurement, and implementation must remain aligned throughout the life of a project.

Ana Maria’s recent work includes the St. Paul’s Hospital Clinical Support and Research Centre; Langley Public Health Relocation; the Centre for Health Complexity at BC Children’s Hospital; Burnaby Hospital; Marpole Community Centre; the Vancouver Cultural Precinct; CMH mixed-use development; and several social housing initiatives, including The Granville Loops.

Together, these projects reflect her experience leading complex healthcare, civic, institutional, and public-facing projects where design quality, technical coordination, and delivery requirements must be carefully integrated.

She is a graduate of UBC’s School of Architecture and is rooted in the West Coast lifestyle of British Columbia. A Fellow of the RAIC, Ana Maria was appointed to the Vancouver Urban Design Panel in 2026, bringing her experience in architecture, project delivery, and city-building to the review of significant development across Vancouver.
