Brightstone Apartments
Brightstone is a 13-storey multi-residential community in Mississauga, delivering 174 condominium-style rental units within walking distance to local amenities, cafés and restaurants, cultural programs, and a network of parks, trails, and transit.
The building is defined by a clean, rhythmic façade, where large window openings create visual interest across shifting proportions and configurations. This articulation breaks the massing into a series of distinct vertical elements, reducing the perceived volume and establishing a more dynamic, human-scaled street presence. Openings within the shear walls enable units to span multiple structural bays, supporting flexible layouts while maximizing natural daylight—an approach that enhances comfort while fostering a stronger connection to the outdoors and the life of the street below.
A diverse mix of unit types accommodates a wide range of household needs and evolving lifestyles, encouraging a multi-generational and socially varied community. Amenities are designed to extend the living environment beyond individual units, deliberately planned to promote interaction and informal encounter. A fitness centre with an outdoor terrace, multi-purpose and event spaces, BBQ areas, outdoor gathering spaces, and bicycle storage are conceived as social infrastructure—spaces that support wellbeing a sense of community among residents.
Integrated within the context of an existing tower, the project is designed to encourage social interaction and shared use between residents of both developments. At grade, transparent glazing and a layered landscaping strategy create a welcoming, pedestrian-oriented entrance that strengthens the building’s connection to the public realm and reinforces a sense of openness.
A high-performance building envelope and thermally optimized detailing reduce energy demand and enhance durability. Efficient mechanical systems and advanced air filtration improve indoor environmental quality, while EV-ready infrastructure anticipates future transportation needs. Native planted bioswales and infiltration systems manage stormwater on-site and support groundwater recharge, contributing to long-term ecological resilience.
