John Featherstone has more than 40 years of design and construction experience and is the senior laboratory consultant with the firm. He is a specialist in the design of complex research facilities, vivaria and bio-containment labs and has had a lifelong interest in sustainability.
He has an extensive background in all phases of project programming, planning, design and construction, both as a project manager and as an internal consultant to project teams. John’s work with the firm encompasses a wide range of academic, government and healthcare research facilities throughout North America.
He is presently working on the functional program for the McGill University Sustainability Complex on the site of the former Royal Victoria Hospital. John was also involved with the new Reactor Materials Testing Laboratory and School of Medicine, both at Queen’s University, Kingston. Other projects of note include NRCan’s CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory, a LEED Platinum certified facility at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, and the Advanced Materials Project building for the NRC in Winnipeg.
