Sarah Low started her architectural education at the University of Toronto School of Architecture in 1983 and went on to complete it at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, England. Sarah spent six years working as an architect in the UK before returning to Toronto. Since joining Diamond Schmitt in 2001, she has worked on academic and community projects, libraries, athletic facilities and a performing arts centre.
Sarah has been project Architect for a wide range of projects. These include a 225,000 square foot, 15-storey, academic building for the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa, a LEED Platinum, Net Zero ready 60,000 square foot Trades renewal and expansion at Okanagan College in BC, and the DARE District at Algonquin College in Ottawa, an new centre for learning, innovation and entrepreneurship with an emphasis on embracing of Indigenous knowledge.
Sarah has extensive experience in projects with a strong sustainable design component, targeting LEED Gold and Platinum, Net Zero energy, and Living Building Challenge, and incorporating mass timber, and urban agriculture. She is a LEED accredited professional.
